EWE Tours is raising funds for a new pilot project in Guatemala called “Scholarship For Her” which aims to support young indigenous girls in Guatemala.
Scholarship for Her was founded in 2024 by Julissa Alvarenga, a native Guatemalan who works with US nonprofits like EWE Tours.
We are aiming to raise $3,500 via GoFundMe with all funds going to two girls for the entire 2025 school year. Your contribution will help cover their tuition fees, school supplies, uniforms, books, and other essential educational materials.
This is the first step in a long-term effort to provide life-changing opportunities to girls who would otherwise not be able to continue their studies.
The two girls we want to support are from rural indigenous communities in Guatemala, where economic hardship and cultural expectations often force young girls to drop out of school. With your support, we can provide them with the resources and encouragement they need to stay in school and reach their potential.
In addition to covering educational costs, this scholarship will include:
- Extracurricular workshops focused on leadership, empowerment, and personal development.
- Quarterly assessments to monitor the girls’ academic progress and overall well-being.
- A supportive network of teachers and community leaders to ensure they succeed in their education journey.
We hope that as we meet our initial fundraising goal, we can gradually expand the program to support more girls in need. This pilot project is just the beginning – with your help, we can create a sustainable scholarship program that will continue to impact the lives of many more indigenous girls, helping them break the cycle of poverty and become leaders in their communities.
In 2025 we are planning on visiting the project in Guatemala and meeting the girls who receive the scholarships. This would be part of the itinerary for our House Building In Guatemala trip.
