Volleyball Vocabulary in Spanish
Volleyball is a worldwide sport including in Spanish-speaking countries. We encourage the players who join our volleyball trip to Costa Rica to learn some of the basic vocabulary of the game in Spanish. It’s a great way to interact even more with the Costa Rican players and coaches you’ll meet and play against. Here are some of the relevant volleyball terms in Spanish:
Spanish Volleyball Terms:
Volleyball (Vóleibol)
“El deporte del voleibol.”
“The sport of volleyball.”
Volleyball (Pelota)
“La pelota necesita aire.”
“The volleyball needs air.”
Volleyball court (Cancha de voleibol)
“Entra en la cancha de voleibol.”
“Step onto the volleyball court.”
Serve (Saque)
“Es tu saque de voleibol.”
“It’s your serve.”
Spike (Remate)
“El remate fue potente y preciso.”
“The spike was powerful and accurate.”
Block (Bloqueo):
“Hicieron un bloqueo impresionante.”
“They made an impressive block.”
Net touch (Toque de red):
“Evita el toque de red durante el partido.”
“Avoid net touch during the match.”
Dig (La recepción):
“Esa fue una excelente recepción.”
“That was an excellent dig.”
Outside hitter (Atacante por fuera):
“El atacante por fuera es muy rápido.”
“The outside hitter is very fast.”
Service error (Error de saque):
“Fue un error de saque.”
“It was a service error.”
Timeout (Tiempo fuera):
“El entrenador pidió un tiempo fuera.”
“The coach called for a timeout.”
Libero (Líbero):
