Our Dominican Republic Baseball Tour offers youth players age the unique opportunity of going abroad for competitive baseball, community service and adventure excursions. Depending on your level, you will compete against Dominican high school, club and community teams. Baseball will be your entre into DR’s rich history and culture.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Island Welcome

Morning/Afternoon: Fly into Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo. Meet your EWE Tours guides. 

Late Afternoon: Check into your beachfront hotel in Boca Chica. Unpack and settle in.

Evening: Welcome Dinner & Orientation. Briefing on Dominican culture, baseball expectations, and the week’s service initiatives.

Day 2: Dominican Pro Clinic & Colonial History

Morning: Dominican Pro Coaching Clinic 1. Head to the field for an intensive training session led by professional Dominican coaches and scouts. Focus on their legendary approach to infield footwork, quick transfers, and aggressive baserunning. 

Afternoon: Travel to nearby Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone (the oldest permanent European settlement in the Americas). Tour the historic cobblestone streets, Alcázar de Colón, and the first cathedral of the New World.

Evening: Dinner at a traditional Dominican restaurant featuring live merengue music. 

Day 3: Game 1 & Community Service Kickoff

Morning: Game 1 vs. Local Academy. Play a highly competitive 9-inning game against a local baseball program stacked with future professional prospects.

Afternoon: Community Service (Part 1). Partner with a local youth league in an underserved neighborhood. Begin a field refurbishment project (painting dugouts, clearing rocks, fixing fencing). 

Evening: Team dinner at the resort followed by a group reflection session on the day’s service work.

Day 4: Game 2 & Baseball Museum Tour

Morning: Game 2 vs. Dominican Team. Take on a different regional team, testing your skills against elite Caribbean pitching and explosive bats.

Afternoon: Baseball Museum Visit. Tour a specialized museum showcasing the rich history of Dominican baseball, detailing the journey of local legends from the grassroots vitilla street games to the MLB Hall of Fame. 

Evening: Relax on the beach or play beach volleyball with teammates. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5: Eco-Adventure: Ziplining Canopy Tour

Morning: Travel into the lush tropical hills for an exhilarating Ziplining Canopy Tour. Fly across lines strung high above the jungle canopy, taking in panoramic views of the island’s interior.

Afternoon: Return to Boca Chica for lunch. Enjoy a free afternoon at the beach or the resort pool to rest your arms and legs.

Evening: Early team dinner to prepare for a big double-feature day of baseball tomorrow.

Day 6: Pro Clinic 2, Youth Clinic & Equipment Donation

Morning: Dominican Pro Coaching Clinic 2. Hit the diamond for your second masterclass with Dominican coaches, this time focusing heavily on approach at the plate, hitting breaking balls, and defensive situational awareness.

Afternoon: Community Service (Part 2) & Youth Clinic. Complete the field refurbishment project. Wrap up the day by hosting a youth baseball clinic for local neighborhood children and present a major equipment donation of gloves, bats, and cleats.

Evening: Beachfront dinner and celebration with community leaders.

Day 7: Game 3 & Farewell Celebration

Morning: Game 3 (The Series Finale). Play a final, high-energy game against top-tier local talent to close out the baseball segment of the tour.

Afternoon: Free time to pack, visit a local open-air market for souvenirs (coffee, vanilla, or larimar jewelry), and relax.

Evening: Farewell Gala Dinner. Final team meeting to hand out tour awards, watch a slideshow of the week’s photos, and celebrate the impact made on and off the field.

Day 8: Departure

Morning: Final breakfast at the hotel. Group photo on the beach.

Afternoon: Board private EWE Tours shuttles for transportation back to Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) for return flights home.

FAQ

Entry Requirements
You just have a Passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months. You do not need a visa or any vaccinations to enter the Dominican Republic.

Travel
Our US Tour Director will travel with your group on a direct flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Punta Cana’s Las Américas International Airport (SDQ). We will coordinate the flight date/time with your group leader. Ground travel in Dominican Republic is by private buses operated by our local partners.

Accommodations
Students stay at 3+ star hotels, with 2-3 students of the same gender per room. Single rooms are usually available — please ask us in advance.

Food
Meals will be mostly traditional local meals, with occasional fast food visits. A typical breakfast is “Tres Golpes” (three hits) which consists of fried cheese, salami and eggs. There will also be cereal, bread, eggs, plantains, pancakes, and fruit available. Lunches and dinners will have combinations of rice, beans, stews, vegetables, green salads, chicken, beef, pasta, stir-fries, and potatoes. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets are easily accommodated.

Water
Tap water is not safe to drink. We will provide bottled water daily.

Dress Code
We ask that you please be respectful and follow Dominican customs on dress: neat, clean, and modest.

WIFI & Cell Phones
Cell phone coverage is good in Dominican Republic. However we encourage students to (mostly) disconnect in order to fully immerse themselves and get the most out of the trip. All of our accommodations do have WIFI. Ask your cell phone carrier about roaming charges/plans.

Emergencies
Parents will have our 24/7 emergency number and will also receive updates from our staff while your child is in Dominican Republic. Our trip leaders including those from the Dominican Republic are available 24/7 for any illnesses or injuries. There are hospitals / clinics in all of our program areas.

Weather
The Dominican Republic has a warm climate year round. Temps range from 88F in the day to 70F at night. The driest months are December to mid-April. June to November can be affected by hurricanes.

Laundry
Laundry for your uniforms is included in your program fee and will be taken care of by our staff. You will have the opportunity to do your laundry at a cost of $4-$8 per load.

Spanish Language
Our trip leaders are bilingual in Spanish and English. You do not need to be able to Speak Spanish for this program. However we certainly encourage you to practice with locals as much as you can.
